River Road Roadway Protection

To address ongoing erosion and road damage in Ākitio (worsened by Cyclone Gabrielle in 2023), the Tararua Alliance worked with HEX-LOC^® to install a modular retaining wall system. The HEX-LOC^® solution was chosen for its strength, adaptability to steep terrain, and environmental sensitivity. This collaborative project restored safe access to the community while protecting the road from future flooding and slips.
